Some of the Places to Visit:
- Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum: Located on Balajirao Road, which has collections of fascinating Indian arts and crafts items. Traditional Indian lamps, Clothes of 18th century, Weapons, Musical instruments are few things among its exhibits.
- Darshan Museum: This museum displays the sound and light show integratingexclusive 3D holographic technologies, constructed on the life of Sadhu Vaswani. The show is about 90 minutes, which takes you through the saint's life story via different sets where the story unfolds.
- Shaniwar Wada:The Peshwas built this historical palace in 18th century. A massive fire destroyed the building in 1827. Most of the palace interiors also wasruined and all that leftovers is the old reinvigorated wall. However, the impressive brass studded gates and lotus pools withstood the damages of time. This palace is situated in the center of the Pune city. There is an inspiring 'Light & Sound Show' in three languages (Marathi, Hindi and English) every evening. It explains the history of the Maratha Empire and the significance of the Shaniwar wada in that history.
- Saras Baug : This big Garden is located very near to Swargate, center of the city, where people can come and relax their time. Ganesh Temple stands in the middle of the garden in lake.
- AgaKhan Palace: It is a collection of photographic exhibition of various epochs in the freedom movement. One can see very rare B&W photos as well as paintings. The place is full of calmness and comfort. Also, visit Samadhi of Kasturba Gandhi, which is in the backyard.
- Parvati Hill temples: Standing atop this hilltop you get a great glimpse of Pune. At a steep height of 108 narrow steps leads to the hill top temple built by Balaji Baji Rao. This was once the private shrine of the Peshwas. It is also the final resting place of Nana Saheb Peshwa. The Parvati museum houses portraits of Peshwas, old manuscripts, coins etc.
- Pataleshwar Caves: This 8th-century rock cut temple is hidden in the heart of the city, in the middle of modern high-rise structures and developments, at Shivajinagar. Significant of Ellora, the temple has been carved out of a single rock. There is a Shiva temple and a Nandi bull.
- Dagduseth Halwai Ganesh Temple: Popular Ganesh temple, with marble interiors & 7.5-ft Lord Ganesh idol in gold.Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati – the most attractive deity to devotees. Devotees from every part of India and the world come to pray to Lord Ganapati here every year.
